Choosing bench and vise accessories

Identify what the part attaches to

Measure the actual round section or mating part where the accessory will sit. A 3/8-inch stem is a separate measurement from a 1/4-inch rotary handle. Check the base, clamp or head model whenever the maker calls it out.

Solve the space problem you have

A riser changes the working height. A separate accessory shaft keeps a light or plate off the main stem. A tool bar gives your most-used tools a place to rest. Consider where the cradle and handle pass before adding something beside the hook.

Read the package as an accessory

A photo may show the accessory installed on a vise, or show an example fly. Check the parts listed in the package. A replacement head needs a compatible vise body. A tool holder needs room on the existing stem.

Does a 3/8-inch fitting make two parts interchangeable?

Only for the connection it describes. Check the position, the other side of the attachment and the maker’s exclusions.

Can a mounted accessory change the hook range?

A riser, post or handle changes the setup. Compare the exact head and jaw if hook fit is the issue.

Do I need a magnetic tool bar for a magnetic clip?

Use a surface that actually attracts the magnet. Stonfo expressly excludes its item 692 tool bar from the compatible mounting points for its magnetic clip.
