Fly Tying Tools

Choose a vise mount for your tying space

Measure the working edge

Check both thickness and the space underneath. A thick lip or a recessed apron can leave too little space for the jaws or screw. Measure at the spot where you actually want to tie. If you cannot reach the underside, a pedestal gives you another placement option.

Decide where the head should sit

Set the tool where you can see the hook with your forearms in a comfortable position. Leave clearance for the rotary handle, scissors and bobbin cradle. The PEAK PRV-G2 sits on a separate pedestal. The Regal Medallion RCR-4 keeps more worktop free by taking its support from the edge.

Change height without changing jaws

If you already own a compatible PEAK mount and need more height, check the RSR-1. It adds 1¾ inches of height adjustment on the specified 3/8-inch shaft. It changes your working position while retaining the existing jaw and hook range.

Guide questions

What if I tie at a shared table?

Check how much room the base takes and where it can be stored. A clamp needs a suitable edge every time you move it.
