Griffin · Fly tying vises
Griffin Odyssey Spider C-Clamp Vise
A rotary vise for a fixed bench, with a clamp mount and a cradle that keeps the thread holder clear while you turn the fly.

Description
Start here if you tie a mix of smaller patterns and streamers and want to turn the hook without opening the jaws. Griffin lists sizes #28 to 4/0. The clamp frees space on the top of the bench for your material trays, and the cradle gives you a place to support the bobbin holder while you work around the fly. Check that the underside of your bench leaves room for the screw.

Fit and buying advice
Compare the cam version if changing hooks with a lever is the feature you want. If the edge of your bench is hard to reach or you move your vise between surfaces, compare a pedestal model such as the PEAK PRV-G2.
Questions about this tool
Can I move the vise farther from the edge?
Plan around the edge and the reach of the clamp. A pedestal is a more flexible choice if you want to position the vise well inside the worktop.
Does the standard model use the Spider Cam jaw?
Griffin lists the Spider and Spider Cam separately. This listing is for the standard Spider, so use its own jaw details when comparing the two.
Can I start with hooks at both ends of the range?
Griffin publishes a #28 to 4/0 range. Check the actual wire and clearance for the pattern if your hooks are unusually thick or you need extra room at the bend.
